When you are looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in Cebu which also has a branch in Japan and years of experience cooking pure Japanese dish. Then you should try Ramen Sora. “Sora” means sky in Japanese, known by their authentic Japanese cuisine especially their Ramen dishes.
Located in Lightsite, A.S. Fortuna, Mandaue, Cebu. In fact the owner of Gerry’s Grill and Ramen Sora are the same, which their restaurants are beside each other. The owner discovered Ramen Sora from his travel in Sapporo Japan where he personally met the chefs Tomio Takada and Chef Yoshinari Ichise and was convinced by Gerry to put up the Ramen Sora restaurant here in the Philippines not as a franchise but as partnership to deliver the same taste and quality as the one in Japan.
The place is inspired by an authentic Japanese restaurant where you can see the interiors closely similar to the ones in Japan with the tables and the chefs close to the customer enjoying the food and you can see how the dish is served from the kitchen to your table.
Their specialty ramen dish is the Miso Ramen which is the one of the best Ramen I have tasted, their noodles are made from the original recipe from Japan while their original soup is made from miso sauce and premium black pork bones boiled for nearly a day.
The ramen is best served when hot and you can add different toppings according to your taste and preference like pork chashu, Negi (Green onion), Nori (seaweed), Tamago (Soft boiled eggs), Menma (bamboo shoots), corn butter, Moyashi (bean sprouts and you can even add extra soup in your bowl!
The ramen is served in big proportions and it is even good for 2 persons so just prepare your empty stomachs because they will sure be full after eating their ramen 🙂
There is more, when you go to the 2nd floor in the Ramen Sora restaurant, you will see their Yakitori Bincho-tan where their grilled dishes are served. The interior is very impressive because their grilling stations is right in front of the table just like in authentic japanese stall carts where you can see the actual cooking right in front of you and immediately serve the dish once it is done. Tables are also available far from the grilling station if you don’t want to get smoked.
The interesting thing is that Ramen Sora and Gerry’s Grill Restaurant is connected beside each other so you can cross order your dishes and vice versa if you want to try both Japanese food and Filipino food.
Overall, the food is awesome, very close to an authentic Japanese Restaurant and a great option if you are near the place and want to enjoy great Japanese food. This is a must try for Ramen lovers.
