Healthy Homemade Chocolate Bar Recipes

By now you should realize that chocolate bars such as Twix, Snickers, and Bounty can lead to unpleasant effects on the human body’s health. There’s no need to worry, though, as we are going to share three delicious recipes with you that you can use to recreate your favorite chocolate bar, just as a healthier version.

Just before we dive into these recipes, let’s take a look at some of the benefits you get with these organic alternatives:

Raw, organic cocoa powder is rich in magnesium, zinc, calcium, copper, vitamins, protein, fiber and essential fats that are good for the heart.
Virgin coconut oil has essential fatty acids, can help burn fat, controls appetite, improves cholesterol levels and can even help with brain function.

Healthy Snickers Bar Recipe

This recipe contains whole ingredients that are all-natural and does not contain the harmful substances found in the original Snickers bar. It does not contain dairy and is completely free of gluten.

Paleo Bounty Bar Recipe

These bounty bars are delicious and use a mixture of organic ingredients to provide a healthier alternative to the commercially available bounty bars. They also do not contain any dairy and may even taste better than the original thing.

Chocolate Part:

1/4 cup of melted coconut oil
1/4 cup of organic cocoa powder
1 tablespoon of honey

The Filling:

1 1/2 cup of shredded coconut (unsweetened)
1/4 cup of coconut cream
2 tablespoons of honey
1/4 cup of coconut milk (full fat)

1. With these bars, you will first prepare the filling and then dip the prepared fillings in the chocolate.
2. Start by mixing all of the ingredients for the filling in a blender. Be sure to stop before the mixture becomes too smooth.
3. Line the filling on a baking sheet in rectangular shapes. You should press them firmly and then put them in the freezer for an hour.
4. Before removing these pieces from the freezer, add the chocolate ingredients to a pot over low heat.
5. Whisk the ingredients until they are thoroughly combined.
6. Once combined, remove the pot from heat and allow the mixture to cool down slightly.
7. Now, simply dip the rectangles in the chocolate, roll it around until completely covered in chocolate and place them back on the baking sheet.
8. Add to the freezer for another ten minutes and enjoy.

Homemade Twix Bars Recipe

Twix bars are a little more complicated than the others as they have a crust below the filling, but they are very delicious, and this recipe is worth a try. This recipe is great for individuals following a paleo diet and is also gluten free.

The Chocolate:

1/4 cup of melted coconut oil
1/4 cup of organic cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon of sea salt (flaky)
2 tablespoons of natural maple syrup

Caramel Filling:

1/2 a cup of almond butter
1/3 of a cup of organic maple syrup
1/3 melted coconut oil
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt

The Crust:

2/3 of a cup of coconut flour
1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt
1/3 cup solid coconut oil
3 tablespoons of organic maple syrup

The Crust: We will start with the crust as it needs to be baked in the oven.

1. Preheat your oven to around 350 degrees (Fahrenheit)
2. Then grease a pan (about eight by eight inches) with some coconut oil.
3. Add the salt and coconut flour in a bowl, then combine the two.
4. Add maple syrup to the mixture and combine, followed by coconut oil.
5. Form a large ball with the mixture and press it into the greased pan.
6. Bake the crust for about 10 minutes – take it out of the over once the edges are golden brown.

Caramel Filling

1. Add all of the ingredients into a saucepan and stir over a low heat.
2. Keep stirring until all of the ingredients have been properly combined, then pour the mixture over the crust and add to the freezer.
3. While the filling is busy setting over the crust in the freezer, pour all of the chocolate ingredients into a pan and whisk them together.
4. Once the part in the freezer has set, pour the chocolate part over and place back into the freezer.
5. Once your Twix bar has cooled down, simply cut it into slices and enjoy.
